Vape Battery Safety: 8 Rules to Follow

Vapes use lithium-ion batteries. Used properly they're safe. These rules are based on Health Canada's vaping product safety advice.

1. Use the right charger. Use the cable or charger made for your device, or a quality external charger like the Efest Lush Q2 for 18650s.
2. Don't charge unattended or overnight. Unplug when it's full.
3. Never carry loose batteries in a pocket. Keys and coins can short them. Use a battery case.
4. Check wraps. Replace 18650s with torn wraps, dents or swelling.
5. Keep devices out of heat. Don't leave them in a hot car or in direct sun.
6. Keep them dry. If a device gets wet, don't charge it.
7. Buy genuine batteries. Shop 18650 batteries from trusted brands.
8. Recycle, never trash. Disposables and batteries go to a battery recycling drop-off, not the garbage.
